hello and welcome
Called "a force" by pianist Paul Bley, with "spiraling notoriety within global jazz circles" (AllAboutJazz.com), PETE ROBBINS is a Brooklyn-based alto saxophonist and composer who tours worldwide and has a number of albums released under his name.

Robbins has been featured in DOWNBEAT and JAZZTIMES magazines, has been called "industrious and venturesome" by THE NEW YORK TIMES and "fiercely creative" by TIME OUT NEW YORK. He has played hundreds of concerts at clubs and festivals across the US and Europe, and has performed and/or recorded with such musicians as Vijay Iyer, John Zorn, Craig Taborn, Mario Pavone, John Hollenbeck, Tyshawn Sorey, Jim Black, Dan Weiss, Thomas Morgan, Kenny Wollesen, Ben Monder, George Garzone, Kendrick Scott, Jenny Scheinman, Melvin Sparks, and others.

Robbins has received multiple jazz composition grants from Chamber Music America and his recordings have earned "Best Of The Year" status from numerous media outlets. He has been featured on National Public Radio and in The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Washington Post, Downbeat, and many other US and international media outlets.

Recording with Vijay, Eivind, and Tyshawn
On February 13 I went into Systems Two studios with Vijay Iyer, Eivind Opsvik, and Tyshawn Sorey to record my first studio album since 2007, "Reactance". It was a terrific session and the music came out great. I'll be mixing the album with Eivind, and then we'll see what happens after that! The selections are a mixture of original pieces by me and my adaptations of tunes by Guns N' Roses, Leonard Cohen, Glen Campbell, Nirvana, and Stevie Wonder.
